Enjoying Juneau

After lots of work on the house, while Kristen was home we took the boat out a few times and got to enjoy some beautiful views with Chachi too.

First Tiling Job

Kristen, Norm, and I put this slate floor in the utility room.  It came out pretty good and I think looks neat with the different colors of slate in it.

Rocking the Kitchen

Kristen and I sheetrocked the kitchen with the expert assistance of my nephew Owen.

Kristen and Kenny Taking a breather

Kenny

Cousin Kenny came and got us all sorted out on putting up sheetrock.  He helped us with the most challenging parts like doing the areas above the stairs and some of the high cielings.  It was good to have him around.

Back at it!

Kristen got back the beginning of February after working in Oregon.  It was great to have her back and she did tons of work on the house while she was home!  We sheetrocked the kitchen, planned out the tile for the bathroom, tiled the utility room, got her cousin Kenny up to Juneau and we all sheetrocked the second floor, and was just really nice to spend time with!

Starting Drywall

Started sheetrocking the master bedroom.

All Hooked Up!

Linemen

AELP linemen strung the cable across for the permnant electic power.  We were responcible for the service box outside and the mast and they are responsible for everything else i.e overhead lines, transformer, pole ....  It felt really good to have this part done.  Not so many extension cords!!

Permnant Electric

AELP our local electric company came and had to change out the transformer.  The current transformer wasn't big enough to handle the 400 amp service we required for the house due to the electirc boiler we installed.

Vapor Barrier

Put up 6 mil plastic vapor barrier on all the exterior walls and cieling.  Lots of stapling but it makes the rooms actually start to look like something.

Good View of the House

Here is the domestic water hookup.  The blue tank is the pressure tank and pump for getting the water up the hill.  The white tank is the hot water heater.

Pretty View from our House !

The Man and his Master Piece!!

My dad did lots for the heating and he is a geater soldering machine!

Starting to look at the Electic Boiler!

We mounted the electric boiler and started trying to figure out how to hook up the infloor heating.

Cieling insulation and lights

Snowy day at the hou!

Pops Looking at Insulation

Here is the neast we ended up buying off of our very good friend Chad Strong.  Looks TOUGH!

Plumbing

Here is the cleaned up version

Plumbing

Here is what is looks like for the plumbing underneath.

Manabloc

Here is the plumbing for the house.  Every faucets in the house can be isloated from this location.  Roger helped with this and did all the hook ups.

The master schematic

Here is Roger Kolden my pops who planned out the communications holding up his master plan.  He is the man!

Communications

Here is a bunch if internet, cable, and phone wires.  We had to make sure all the wiring was done before we started closing up the walls for sheetrock.

Duravent

These cream colored duravents are what allows the cool air move up from the soffit to the the roof cap venting carrying the moisture out of the attic.  They are made so that you can pack insulation against them yet still have air flow.

Hauling materials

This is what I got to do when the driveway was unpassable.  Haul insulation up the hill on sleds.  Hooray....

More Insulation

Our friends Mikki and Brad helped us put in the bat insulation giving the exterior walls a total of R28 which is pretty good.

Pink Board

First layer of hard insulation that friend Tim put in and later Jason sprayed foamed!
Cousin Jason helped a lot with the insulation process.  We put in two in pink hard foam in the wall cavities and JAson went around spray foamed in every piece.  He's the man and even a ladies man at that!

Electrical

This electrical project took about a month and a half of figuring out what we wanted and how the lighting was going to go and where the swithes went and outlets and everything else.  Our friend Jesse Ross who is an electrician gave us a lot of advice.

Icy Driveway

Here is the driveway from this winter.  River of Ice.  Chains and reverse was the best way to get up.
